The Queen of Sheba orchid
Where can I find the Queen of Sheba? Have you seen the Queen of Sheba? I have heard these questions scores of times. I have seen the Queen of Sheba orchid, Thelymitra variegata at Albany and the different species that grows in the Stiring Ranges.
The first four pictures are from Albany, and the last three are from the Stirling Ranges.

The Queen of Sheba found in Albany is Thelymitra variegata and Thelymitra speciosa is found in the Stirling Ranges. The third, Thelymitra pulcherrima is found north of Perth.
I recently visited a Queen of Sheba site in Albany, the sad news is that a few more plants have been destroyed by the councils grader. This is a far from pristine site but it is easy to get to and the orchids were easily photographed without trampling on other plants.
